Processing Your First Sale

Learn how to complete a transaction from start to finish

Navigate to Point of Sale

Click on "Sales" in the sidebar, then select "Point of Sale"

💡 Tip: You can also use the keyboard shortcut: Press P to open POS

Add Products to Cart

Search for products by name, SKU, or scan a barcode

  • Type product name in the search bar
  • Or scan barcode using a barcode scanner
  • Click on the product to add it to cart
  • Adjust quantity using + and - buttons
  • Remove items by clicking the X button

Select Customer (Optional)

Link the sale to a customer for purchase history

  • Click "Select Customer" button
  • Search for existing customer or create new
  • Customer details will appear in the cart
  • Purchase will be recorded in their history

Choose Payment Method

Select how the customer is paying

  • Cash: Physical cash payment
  • Card: Debit/Credit card payment
  • Transfer: Bank transfer payment
  • On Account: Customer will pay later
  • Multiple: Split payment across methods

Complete the Transaction

Finalize and process the payment

  • Review the total amount
  • Enter amount received (for cash)
  • Click "Complete Sale" button
  • Receipt will be generated automatically
  • Transaction saved to sales history

Payment Methods

Understanding different payment options

Cash

Physical cash payment

  1. 1Select "Cash" as payment method
  2. 2Enter the amount received from customer
  3. 3System calculates change automatically
  4. 4Click "Complete Sale"

Card

Debit or credit card payment

  1. 1Select "Card" as payment method
  2. 2Enter card details or use card reader
  3. 3Confirm payment amount
  4. 4Click "Complete Sale"

Transfer

Bank transfer payment

  1. 1Select "Transfer" as payment method
  2. 2Enter transfer reference (optional)
  3. 3Confirm payment amount
  4. 4Click "Complete Sale"

On Account

Customer pays later

  1. 1Select "On Account" as payment method
  2. 2Customer must be selected
  3. 3Amount will be added to customer balance
  4. 4Customer can pay later from their account

Multiple Payment Methods

Split payment across multiple methods

  1. 1Select "Multiple" as payment method
  2. 2Add first payment (e.g., Cash: ₦5,000)
  3. 3Add second payment (e.g., Transfer: ₦3,000)
  4. 4Continue until total is covered
  5. 5Click "Complete Sale"

Processing Returns & Refunds

How to handle product returns and refunds

Find the Original Sale

Locate the transaction in Sales History

  • Go to Sales → Sales History
  • Search for the transaction by date, customer, or receipt number
  • Click on the transaction to view details

Initiate Return

Start the return process

  • Click "Return" button on the sale
  • Select items to return
  • Enter return quantity for each item
  • Add return reason (optional)

Process Refund

Refund the payment to customer

  • Select refund method (same as original payment)
  • Enter refund amount
  • Add refund notes if needed
  • Click "Process Refund"
  • Stock will be automatically adjusted

Printing & Emailing Receipts

Generate and share receipts with customers

Print Receipt

  1. 1After completing a sale, click "Print Receipt"
  2. 2Or go to Sales History and click "Print" on any transaction
  3. 3Receipt will open in print dialog
  4. 4Select your printer and print
  5. 5Receipt includes: Transaction details, Items, Payment method, Date & time

Email Receipt

  1. 1After completing a sale, click "Email Receipt"
  2. 2Enter customer email address
  3. 3Or use customer email if customer is selected
  4. 4Click "Send"
  5. 5Customer receives receipt via email

Receipt Customization

  1. 1Go to Settings → Receipt Settings
  2. 2Customize receipt header and footer
  3. 3Add business logo
  4. 4Include/exclude specific information
  5. 5Save changes

Offline Mode

Continue selling even without internet connection

Automatic Offline Detection

System automatically detects when you're offline

  • POS continues to work normally
  • Sales are saved locally
  • Receipts can still be printed
  • All data syncs when connection is restored

Offline Limitations

What you can't do offline

  • Cannot add new customers (use existing ones)
  • Cannot add new products (use existing ones)
  • Cannot view real-time inventory (uses cached data)
  • Email receipts won't send until online

Sync When Online

What happens when connection is restored

  • All offline sales are automatically synced
  • Inventory is updated
  • Customer balances are updated
  • Reports are refreshed
  • You'll see a notification when sync is complete

Get the most out of your POS system

Use Barcode Scanners

Connect a USB barcode scanner for faster checkout. Just scan products directly into the cart.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Learn keyboard shortcuts: P for POS, S for search, Enter to complete sale, Esc to cancel.

Quick Product Search

Type product name, SKU, or barcode in search. Use arrow keys to navigate results, Enter to add.

Customer Selection

Always select customers when possible. This helps track purchase history and build loyalty.

Receipt Management

Print receipts immediately or email them. Customers can always request reprints from Sales History.

Multiple Locations

If you have multiple locations, make sure you're processing sales at the correct location.
